T-Mobile CLIQ Getting a Successor?
While some of you might find thisto be a little unexpected, we’re hearing that the Motorola Begonia on that T-Mobile roadmap we leaked in July is actually the T-Mobile CLIQ 2. We wouldn’t think the CLIQ qualified for sequel status, but I guess we were wrong according to the fun-loving crew over at Engadget, who was been offered a little information about this “Begonia.” We must say, we’re kind of interested.
Rumored features of the Motorola Begonia (CLIQ 2) include:
- Android 2.2
- Solid full-QWERTY keyboard
- No gaps between keys
- Described as interesting
- No gaps between keys
- 3G hotspot support
- Wi-Fi calling feature
The device is rumored to be hitting shelves in early November and as some of us know already, the T-Mobile G2 doesn’t have the 3G hotspot feature just yet, so at the moment this device one ups the G2 in that category. As we hear more, we’ll be sure and let you know. Anyone feel the CLIQ is worthy of a successor?

T-Mobile UK Pushes Back Froyo for the Galaxy S
T-Mobile UK has previously stated that they were going to roll out Android 2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S by the end of the month and surprise surprise, no Froyo. T-Mobile UK has now stated in their support forums that the update has been pushed back a “couple of weeks.”
While some of you might have taken T-Mobile UK’s word to heart, we can’t really take anything as 100% fact until this update begins hitting devices. The update will be available on Samsung’s Kies program so keep checking that if you want, but Froyo will be hitting the Galaxy S soon enough so try and be patient.

T-Mobile UK will be rolling out an OTA update to their HTC Wildfire beginning Monday, October 4th that will bring more stability to the Android 2.1 firmware. Although it’s not the Android 2.2 that Wildfire users were hoping for, stability is always a good thing. T-Mobile UK posted the following in their support forums:
Hi folks
From Monday 4th October there will be an over the air (OTA) update making it’s way to T-Mobile branded Wildfires. This update will improve the general stability of the 2.1 operating system.

Cheers

Samsung Issues Vibrant Update on Kies, but T-Mobile Says Hold Up
An update is available via Samsung Kies program that is said to address your faulty GPS and before you download the update, know that T-Mobile has stated not to download the update from Kies and to wait for an official OTA update from them. They posted the following last night on Twitter:
If you haven’t downloaded the update from Kies, we must urge you not to as carriers are not responsible for those trigger-happy individuals. There is no word at the moment which issues T-Mobile is referring to, but we’re not too sure anyone wants to find out either. We’ll keep you guys posted when the official OTA update started hitting devices.
If you have already downloaded the update from Kies, we’re sure T-Mobile or the Android community will have a fix for you soon after the official OTA update.

As The T-Mobile G2 Arrives, Faulty Hinges And Missing Storage Follow
As with every new device, once people start to receive them we start hearing about all of the flaws of the device. The following issues pose a big problem as T-Mobile gears up for the official launch of the G2. First up is that unique “Z” hinge mechanism which looks very cool and allows the display to rest almost flush with the keyboard allowing for easy screen to keyboard maneuvering.
This issue, as shown above, is that the “Z” hinge is already becoming really loose allowing the display to actually drop down if holding the G2 upside down. Check out the video below for a better understanding.
The second issue users are noticing is that the internal storage for the G2 which is supposed to be 4GB is actually showing just under 2G which is said to come on the HTC Desire Z, seems like someone pulled the old switcheroo with the device batch. We’re unsure if T-Mobile and HTC knows about this issue, but they need to start finding a way to make this right and fast before the official launch coming up next Wednesday.
Anyone experiencing these issues with their G2? Let us know in the comments below.

T-Mobile G2 to Bring Wi-Fi Calling but No Tethering Support
The T-Mobile G2 launch is just around the corner and lately we’ve been hearing more and more about what this device has to offer. According to these leaked T-Mobile images, it’s looking like the G2 will feature Wi-Fi calling which we recently learned is a possible feature on the upcoming LG Optimus.
While UMA support has its benefits, it also has its disadvantages. With Wi-Fi calling, once you lose range of your Wi-Fi network, your device will not automatically pick up your call using your mobile network so the call will be dropped.
T-Mobile has come out and said that tethering will not be featured on the T-Mobile G2 and as we know the tethering feature is available with Android 2.2; carriers have the final say so on whether or not they’ll allow that feature. T-Mobile issued the following statement regarding tethering:
“T-Mobile does not currently support handset tethering or offer a tethering rate plan. Though tethering and Wi-Fi sharing will not be initially supported on the T-Mobile G2, we know that consumers are interested in these features and we are working to develop a solution to support them in the future.”
One of the advantages T-Mobile customers have is at least T-Mobile acknowledges this requested feature, so maybe in the near future we’ll see an OTA update allowing tethering on the G2, but we’re sure the Android development community will have something for us not too long after the device launches. How many of you regularly use the tethering feature?

T-Mobile Readying G2 Pre-Orders?
Yesterday as we all know was the first day to purchase the G2 on pre-order. Like many others I called up T-Mobile and took the chance to pre-order G2's on both of my lines. I was told that they would arrive on or before October 6th. Contrary to what I had heard, some might have them shipping as early as September 27th. I went on with my life, patiently dreaming about October 6th. Today I was greeted by this text message, one that came as a VERY NICE surprise; I got it a little while later on the second line that I ordered.
Could this mean that T-Mobile is preparing to ship the G2 on Monday, the 27th? I sure hope so. Anybody else getting this text message or have ideas? Feel free to drop a comment below.
